A limit of 50 hours of work in each and every workweek, without averaging.
A limit of 12 consecutive hours worked in one shift, no exceptions.

In-hospital on-call frequency no more than once every seven nights, without averaging.
At least 10 hours off after a day shift and at least 12 hours off after a night shift.

Yes. BeaconGME supports residents who want to explore different programs or specialties. We provide guidance, protection and resources intended to help make a transition smoother, subject to accreditation requirements and available placements.
BeaconGME participating programs are designed to combine high-quality training with clear early-career pathways. Competitive compensation, supportive schedules and structured support are intended to make the move from residency to attending practice smoother and more rewarding.
Residents may be incentivized to practice within a participating hospital network for the first two years after residency. The pathway is intended to support a smooth transition into a first attending role while helping hospitals meet workforce needs.
BeaconGME is designed to support informed career choices. If a resident chooses a path outside a participating hospital after training, the governing agreement may include a pre-agreed repayment amount that is disclosed from the beginning, so the available options are clear.
